Posted by admin on April 30th, 2010 and filed under japanese restaurants | 8 Comments »

PLEASE BE HONEST AND TELL ME THE TRUTH. BECAUSE AS A JAPANESE GIRL I WANT TO COMPLET MY RESEARCH ABOUT GENERALIZATION OF JAPANESE CULTURE AROUND THE WORLD.

and tell me do u like japanese food?

I live in a small town in southwest Oklahoma, and we have no Japanese restaurants here. I’ve never eaten Japanese food, and I wouldn’t know where to go around here to find any. Guess I’ll have to wait till I take that trip overseas.

Does anyone have the recipe for the dressing they put on the salads at Japanese Restaurants?

It’s not the Shrimp sauce, but the other orangy looking sauce that they put on the salads.
I found those too, but I don’t think they are the pink sauce.

    I like it too.
    I hope someone knows.

It has ginger in it- i think.

It’s not the ginger based one, it’s thicker kinda orangy colored.

Does anyone have a recipe for that delicious broth/bullion served in Japanese restaurants?

It’s really fragrant and very light and oh so yummy, especially if you’re pregnant and don’t want anything else?

It’s called Miso Soup. You can actually find a powdered version in the asain food’s section of your local grocery. It looks like a spice packet. It’s actually fairly close to what you’d get at a japanese restaurant.. just watch the sodium content if you’re pregant.

Otherwise, the soup is comprised of "Dashi" which is a soybean derrivitave. You can buy it powdered, jarred or you can make it yourself by stewing soybeans (but who has the time and patience for that?) If you can find powdered dashi, prepare it as the package states, add some silken firm tofu, some seaweed (sold as "nori" and comes as a dried sheet) and some thinly sliced green onions.. and voila. Miso.

How do japanese restaurants make their prawns tempura so straight?

Posted by admin on April 19th, 2010 and filed under japanese restaurants | 4 Comments »

They make them so straight I just want to make them like that too.

After de-shelling them, lay them flat and butterfly them (make vertical and horizontal cuts). Batter and fry, they will stay flat.
