  • What would be good Estonian or japanese recipes?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2011 and filed under japanese recipes | 3 Comments »

I’m half Estonian and half Japanese so I wanted to cook something that related to my countries. My boyfriend said it would be cool if I did because it is the first day in out new house. Can someone please help!?!?

My favourite Japanese recipe at the moment is Tonkatsu (deep fried pork cutlet). Tonkatsu is one of the most popular meat dishes in Japan. It is a popular “set” meal at Japanese restaurants and usually consists of a deep fried breaded pork cutlet on a bed of cabbage, a bowl of steamed rice, a bowl of soup and a side dish of pickles.

Tonkatsu is easy to make at home and delicious.

And, here’s some information on Japanese Cuisine:
There are many views as to what defines Japanese cuisine, as the everyday food of the Japanese people have diversified immensely over the past century or so. In Japan, the term "Japanese cuisine" (nihon ryōri, 日本料理 or washoku, 和食) refers to traditional-style Japanese food, similar to what already existed before the end of national seclusion in 1868. In a broader sense of the word, it could also include foods whose ingredients or cooking methods were subsequently introduced from abroad, but which have been developed by Japanese who made them their own.

Food in Japan is generally of a very high quality and most Japanese people tend to be quite well informed diners. Local, regional and seasonal dishes are invariably a key tourist attraction for the domestic traveller.

Japanese cuisine is known for its emphasis on seasonality of food, quality of ingredients and presentation.

I want to be more versatile in the kitchen. The guy I am with now is basically just like me, so I like the idea he likes Japanese styled things too. I am not cooking for him, but maybe someday I will be. No matter I still want to learn Japanese styled dishes for myself. By scratch! No pre packaged meals please.
I should metion I am vegiterian

I would start off with something stupid easy like miso soup. Then I’d try tempura, also easy. Those are the beginners for cooking Japanese cuisine. Fried rice is easy to start with, and will teach good wok skills because you have to learn to not burn the rice.

After that, get a good cookbook and start experimenting.

edit: I’m gonna assume it’s not sushi.

What are some good, easy, japanese, vegan recipes?

I really like japanese food, and I’d like to ask if there are some really good recipes. Also, spicy is okay, but not horribly spicy, and no rice, please.

Try making vegan udon noodles. You will need: I bag pre-cooked udon noodles(250 g), some vegetables like mushrooms, carrots, bell peppers, soya beans, onion etc, a teaspoon of vegetable oil, a tablespoonful of sesame oil, tablespoon of tomato paste (soft, not thick) salt and pepper to taste, some garlic, a teaspoon soya sauce.

First put the oils into the frying pan and add the vegetables and fry for 5-6 minutes until soft. Add the udon noodles and stir gently, then add the rest of the spices and sauces. Enjoy!

You could also make vegan sushi, if you like.

What can one vegetarian order at Japanese restaurants?

Hey, I am vegetarian. however, for our prom dinner we are going to Japanese restaurant. I have no idea if they have any vege food or not. does anyone know few vage dishes that i can order at Japanese restaurant?

The great thing about Japanese cuisine is the large variety and there are plenty of vegetarian dishes. Some of my favourites include vegetable tempura, hiyayakko (chilled tofu), tamagoyaki (Japanese style omelette), and yakimeshi (fried rice).
