Whenever i go to a Japanese restaurant, i don’t know what to order, because the English is the the Japanese pronunciation.
I want a good website with a regular Japanese menu, and all it’s meanings.
such as.. what is Unagi. or Tobeko or something like that
Teriyaki=anything with cooked and covered with teriyaki sauce. e.g. chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, fish teriyaki, etc
Teriyaki is basically soy sauce, sugar, and sake. there are dozens of variations.
Domburi or Don dishes=a big bowl of rice with a topping of whatever. e.g. chicken domburi, beef domburi. also know as beef bowl in America. The topping are usually mixed with eggs in soup stock to make a omlette with stock.
Temura-anything coated in a batter and deep fried. e.g. shrimp tempura, vegtable tempura.
Udon=Japanese noodle soup. Noodles are wheat based and white. various toppings, e.g. tempura udon. Noodles with batter covered deep fried shrimp.
Soba=buck wheat noodles soup. brownish color. served hot or cold. sometimes served with soup stock on the side and you dip your noodles into it. Various toppings usually tempura shrimp.
Tonkatsu-bread coated deep fried pork cutlet.
miso soup=fermented soy bean paste mixed with fish stock.
edame=soy beans boiled in their own pods. Do not eat the pods.
sashimi= sliced fish usually raw.
Restaurants that serve sushi will have a separate menu. That menu translate the Japanese word to English. The more common ones are below.

There are many other types of dishes but the above are the most common found in the US.
